Samuel Pisar, photographed inside his home in Paris, France on 2 May 2010. Pisar is a renowned international lawyer, an author and a Knight of the French Legion of Honor. He was 10 when his native Poland was invaded by Stalin and then Hitler. He survived the Nazi death camps of Majdanek, Auschwitz and Dachau, escaping at the age of 16. At the request of Leonard Bernstein, Pisar wrote the lyrics to Bernstein's Symphony No. 3, the "Kaddish."
